SATURDAY RIDE AT TRAXLER
On Saturday, September 3, we will meet between
the tourist shops at exit 404 of I-75 (route 236 is the east-west road) to
ride the northern part of the Santa Fe Century route. Two options will be
offered. The Lo Bee ride will be 45 miles, with a speed of about 16
mph. The Killer Bee ride will be about 59 miles (Dennis Guttman is having his
59th birthday), and will be at 17-18 mph, although Dennis will average 15-16
mph. The Lo Bee and Killer Bee groups will ride the same route on the way to the
rest stop, but diverge on the way back.
Meeting time is 8am for an 8:15am departure.
Exit 404 is the first exit north of the Alachua
exit on I-75, and is 17 miles north of Newberry Road.
MONDAY (LABOR DAY) RIDE WITH LATE START TIME
The club picnic is at Boulware Springs (the Gainesville start of the
Gainesville-Hawthorne rail trail). On Monday, September 5, we will meet at
9am for a 9:15 am departure from Boulware Springs and ride the
trail, plus one additional leg, for a total of 31-40 miles at a speed of about
16-17 mph. There will be a rest stop in Hawthorne. The extra leg will be on the
return trip, so if you want to just ride the trail (31 miles roundtrip) and slow
down on the way back (or get to Chandler's food first!), you can.
