Hello all,

Just a reminder, I will be riding the 200 km brevet route this Saturday (11/5/2005) along with seven (7) other GCC riders (mostly Gliders).  One rider is breaking off early and hammering it home.  The weather looks great for Saturday!  (61 for the low, 83 for the high, partly cloudy, W wind at 4)

Again we plan to ride averaging 17-18 mph (this means we will ride 17-20 mph).  The ride will total 125 miles and we will have 3 planned stops of about 20 minutes each (or whenever the group says, "Let's go").  We will stop for flats or other mechanical problems, and stay together by regrouping at major intersections or rest stops (if necessary). Maps and que sheets will be distributed before the ride.  This is an unsagged and totally self supporting ride.  If you plan to ride, bring what you need, money, spare tube, fuel (food), etc.

We plan on leaving Westside Park (The West parking lot near the playground) at 7:00 a.m. sharp!  If you show up late, I should have some maps on a vehicle under the windshield wiper (not sure which vehicle since I'm biking to Westside).

See my original email below (in blue) for details.  Again a total of eight (8) riders so far.

Thanks,

Mike

Hello all,

I'm planning a 200 km (125 mile) ride scheduled for Saturday November 5th,
2005. The route will follow the official route for the GCC 200 km brevet
that took place in January of this year.

You can find the route here http://www.afn.org/~wilson/200k.zip.

This ride is NOT a qualifying event. As a matter of fact, it is not an
event at all. This is a training ride for me and I'm looking for some
company. I plan to be at Westside Park on Saturday November 5th, 2005 at
6:45 a.m. for a 7:00 a.m. departure (the time will have already changed, so
we will have plenty of sunlight). Planning on riding 16-18 mph if solo or
16-20 mph if a group is formed. There will be a stop at 27 miles, 69 miles,
and 96 miles (approximately 20 minutes each). This ride is unsagged and
supported only by those who show. You should make sure you have at the very
least 2 water bottles and a tire/tube repair "kit" (spare tube, air, etc.).
As always HELMETS ARE REQUIRED.

November 5th is a UF home game against Vanderbilt. Kickoff is scheduled for
7:15 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2. If all goes as planned, we should
be back before 4:00 p.m., plenty of time to get ready for the game.

If you're planning on riding, please RSVP to wohlhut@xxxxxxxxxxxxx if you
want a laminated map and cue sheet.

Who: Any GCC rider that can sustain a pace of 16+ mph for 40 miles
(non-stop).
What: A 200 km (125 mile) ride.
When: Saturday, November 5th, 2005, 7:00 a.m. departure.
Where: Westside Park, at the corner of NW 8th avenue & NW 34th Street.
Why: Training ride or because you want to.
