Three deer hang out near the western entrance to the GHT hammock. Fuzziness due to extreme telephoto.

Note: Because sunset is before 7 pm, it would be a good idea to have at least an LED headlight, a rear blinker, and a light colored jersey, so other cyclists don't crash in to you.

In our continuing tradition of riding and eating, Strays will ride about 20 miles on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail on Tuesday evening October 24, weather cooperating, followed by $2 hamburger / sausage-sub night at Market Street Pub.

No speed limit, this is a training ride, but mostly hanging around 14 mph.

For those who don't want to ride, or can't, but want to join us for the food, we usually make it to MSP at about 7:15-7:30.

Meet at 5:15 PM at the dirt lot at Boulware Springs for a  5:30 departure.

Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides, mirrors recommended, headphones forbidden.

Safety protocols are always observed on Strays rides
NEW RIDERS must read the following before joining us:

To get to the Boulware Springs dirt lot:
From the intersection of Waldo Road (24/331) and University Ave (26), proceed East on University for about a quarter mile, the road forks, take the right fork, which is Hawthorne Rd. (20), in about another block take a right (going south) on SE 15th st., continue south for about 2.25 miles until you see the brown Gainesville Hawthorne Trail sign on your right. Pass the first entrance to the park, but enter the second entrance a few hundred feet further south. Park either in the dirt lot or the paved lot down near the spring house. We gather for the ride at the picnic tables next to the dirt lot. If you need a rest room and the Boulware Springs facility is locked, there will be a rest room at about the one mile point on the ride.

To get to the Market Street Pub:
From the intersection of University and Main, go south on Main one block and turn right, Market Street Pub is on the right in two blocks. Park in the city parking lot immediately across the street on the left. If you don't see us out front, be sure and look around inside, we sometimes find a cubbyhole to hide in to escape the heat.   http://www.marketstreetpub.com/ .
