Dear Friends:
Lee and I are going to try a ride on the Nature Coast this Thursday 30
November, starting at 9:00 AM from the old depot on North Main in
Trenton, and returning to Trenton for lunch at Petrello's. Trenton is
West of Newberry on SR 26, and the depot is about 3 blocks North of the
(only) traffic light.
There is a 30% chance of precip in the current forecast, so stay tuned
for a cancellation. In fact, if you do plan to go, check with me at
333.3184. If it looks likely to rain, I will cancel before leaving
home at 8:00 AM and post the cancellation to gccmail.
If we ride, we will go to (at least) the Suwanee River Bridge.
Presently the river is very low, as is the tannin-stained outflow from
the Okefenokee Swamp, so most of the water is from the many springs
along the course of the river. This makes the water much clearer than
we have seen in several years, and parts of the SS City of
Hawkinsville may be visible for the first time since 1999. I
intend to have a look.
Bring sunscreen, bug juice, water, energy food if you need it, etc.
There are convenience stores along the route.
Cheers,
George
