Dear Florida Bicycle and/or Trail Advocate,

 

Thank you for speaking up for trails, walking and biking. By taking the time to contact Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) you helped to demonstrate the strong grassroots-level support for more bicycle and walking facilities in Florida-not less.

 

We are entering a critical time in our state's non-motorized transportation and statewide trail system development. Discussions have already begun for the federal re-authorization of the next transportation funding bill. This funding mechanism only comes around every six to seven years, and bicycle and trail funding has already come under attack by Congress, administration officials and even a presidential candidate. We will need your continued involvement and action as this process comes to a head in the next 24 months.

 

If you haven't yet taken action or forwarded a note to your fellow riding or walking friends, please do so now. This can be easily be done by visiting http://support.railstotrails.org/martinez.
