Events - Three Briefings of Interest This
Week
One of the
policy priorities identified at the National
Summit on Obesity Policy in May was to ensure that
the built environment helps to foster physically
active lifestyles. To this end, the American
Planning Association along with the National
Association of County and City Health Officials,
the National Recreation and Park Association,
KaBOOM!, YMCA and the American Public Health
Association are having a briefing in Washington,
DC to examine the correlation between the built
environment and the public's health.
Speakers for
the event include: Jenelle Krishnamoorthy
(Committee on Health, Education, Labor and
Pensions), Howard Frumkin, MD, MPH, DrPH (Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention) and Reid
Ewing, PhD (National Center for Smart
Growth).
