1 ? Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee to Hold Hearing on Childhood Obesity.  On Wednesday, July 16th, the Subcommittee on Children and Families of the Senate HELP Committee will be holding a hearing entitled, ?Childhood Obesity: The Declining Health of America?s Next Generation ? Part 1?.  The hearing will take place at 2:30 pm in Room 430 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Testifying at the hearing will be:

§         Jeff Levi, Ph.D., Executive Director, Trust for America?s Health

§         Dr. Francine Kaufman, former President of the American Diabetes Association, Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and Communications at the University of Southern California

§         Dr. Margaret Grey, DrPHG, RN, FAAN, Dean and Annie Goodrich professor, Yale School of Nursing

§         Bruce Lesley, President, First Focus

Trust for America?s Health to Release new study examining the benefits of community-based prevention programs.  Please join the Trust for America?s Health on July 17th for the release of the study entitled, ?Prevention for A Healthier America: Investments in Disease Prevention Yield Significant Savings, Stronger Communities.?

The study was conducted in partnership with the Urban Institute, the New York Academy of Medicine, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the California Endowment and the Prevention Institute.
