– The Campaign to End Obesity Commends the
Obesity Society for Holding Obesity Policy Forums
in Conjunction with National
Conventions
The
Obesity Society, along with the Universities of
Colorado and Minnesota, the Mayo Clinic and George
Washington University, has announced that they
will host policy forums entitled, “The Challenge
of Obesity for Policy Makers: Recommendations for
the Next Administration,” at the Democratic and
Republican National conventions. Local and
national policymakers, representatives of the
Party nominees, delegates and the public will
discuss strategies to combat the obesity
epidemic. Conversations like these with
policymakers will be key to advancing genuine
obesity policy in the years ahead.

– The Campaign to End Obesity Praises Humana
for Offering Free Bikes at the
Conventions
Humana,
a health benefits company and Bikes Belong, a
cycling advocacy group, are teaming up to offer
over 1,000 free bikes at both National
Conventions. Delegates, members of the
press, visitors and residents of Denver and Minneapolis will
be able to get in some extra physical activity
while being a little more environmentally
friendly.
