UPDATE FROM THE CAMPAIGN TO END OBESITY

1 – The Campaign to End Obesity Commends the Obesity Society for Holding Obesity Policy Forums in Conjunction with National Conventions

The Obesity Society, along with the Universities of Colorado and Minnesota, the Mayo Clinic and George Washington University, has announced that they will host policy forums entitled, “The Challenge of Obesity for Policy Makers: Recommendations for the Next Administration,” at the Democratic and Republican National conventions.  Local and national policymakers, representatives of the Party nominees, delegates and the public will discuss strategies to combat the obesity epidemic.  Conversations like these with policymakers will be key to advancing genuine obesity policy in the years ahead.

2 – The Campaign to End Obesity Praises Humana for Offering Free Bikes at the Conventions

Humana, a health benefits company and Bikes Belong, a cycling advocacy group, are teaming up to offer over 1,000 free bikes at both National Conventions.  Delegates, members of the press, visitors and residents of Denver and Minneapolis will be able to get in some extra physical activity while being a little more environmentally friendly.
