Oh, I've *got* to get that.  I love Moon's work.

In more evidence of why we should local bookshops, I accidentally happened to stumble across a new Elizabeth Moon novel I knew nothing about.  Much excitement and just a couple of bus rides later it was such a good read that I can report on it here.

It's not Traveller of course, but it could certainly be useful to Traveller referees looking for inspiration.  Arctic climate, cold weather survival and some mercenary action.  It's another Ky Vatta book if you liked those that went before (the Vatta's War trilogy) and so you also get some politics with her family as before.  I only noticed half way through the book that the spine said Vatta's Peace: Book 1, so presumably there are more to come.

I won't say any more and give spoilers, but I could easily imagine chunks (particularly early chunks) of this as a Traveller adventure (perhaps with some of the 'reasons' changed) and even if you don't plan on using that way, it's a fun read.
