What? A (compiled) QuickBASIC program, distributed as MS-DOS EXEs, running on an Android tablet? Yep! I've done it! HYStudio has ported DOSBox to Android (in the Play Store as aDosBox), and GALACTIC works just fine, graphics and all, under it. If you aren't planning on adding or changing information, just viewing it, you'll be perfectly fine with the DOSBox 'ghost softkeys' that appear overlaying the full-screen display; I'd configure one of the softkeys for ENTER, one for Q, and I'm not sure what the best use for the other two would be. The 'ghost' keys also include a directional diamond for moving or scrolling. If you want to edit or add info to the program, you can use the system soft keyboard, at the cost of having the screen partly obscured (I also recommend installing and using the Hacker's Keyboard by Klaus Weidner as your default IME), or using a Bluetooth keyboard (I have one from Targus that works with both iOS and Android). DOSBox is also available for other platforms, so there's no need to write off Jim's excellent Traveller aid. -- Jeff Zeitlin, Editor Freelance Traveller The Electronic Fan-Supported Traveller® Fanzine and Resource editor@freelancetraveller.com http://www.freelancetraveller.com http://freelancetraveller.downport.com/ ®Traveller is a registered trademark of Far Future Enterprises, 1977-2014.
