Doesn't work that way. From the archives of one of lists, there's an
original post with the foillowing header line:

Message-ID: <CAKO-FtHj_9GqYnFXgK8+h28QrrRhc=6_iEX-Fnxf-
eNFqJM==xxxxxx@mail.gmail.com>

And a reply to has *this* header line:

In-Reply-To: <CAKO-FtHj_9GqYnFXgK8+h28QrrRhc=6_iEX-Fnxf-
eNFqJM==xxxxxx@mail.gmail.com>

So, as you can see you need the message-ID line from the message you
are replying to. Which you don't *have* since you are getting the
digest.

And even then, your mailer would have to let you create an In-Reply-
To header containing that message ID.
