It looks like Planetary Resources is planning on hitting the NEA, primarily because we can't do much more yet. Higher dV rocks will be gotten rid of as soon as feasible but that just means that by the time you get to Traveller tech it will be routine to clear the asteroids that are buzzing where you want traffic to be. Deploying small craft to do it (if they are big enough to haul the equipment for that endeavour however it is to be accomplished) could be routine until they are gone. Don't have the industrial capacity to smelt them all? Park them in an orbit that doesn't cross a planet's path..

Makes me wonder if there is a point where labor costs over mission
length exceed fuel and maintenance in Traveller?

Upshot - is there any doubt that it will be both possible and desirable
to clear the asteroids that cross the orbits of habitable planets thus
removing concealment and cover for comfortably shod Aslan interlopers?

It does give a great plot hook - "Jones transposed a '6' and a '9' and
the asteroid that is supposed to slide into the furnace at the Trojans -
it is going to hit the planet instead. Company says we broke it so we
have to make it right. Let's go."
