Recently, in one of my Google+ circles/communities, this article on
various legal systems was flagged to me. It is recommended reading, even
though the author considers it a draft; Mr Friedman is known to me to
put much effort into his scholarship on any topic. Those of you who have
spent any length of time in the Society for Creative Anachronism will
know of Mr Friedman by his highly-respected persona of Cariadoc of the
Bow, Duke (East and Middle), Master of the Laurel, Master of the
Pelican, Knight of the SCA, and many Kingdom-level and lesser
recognitions for scholarship and service.
