Hopefully he just got lazy. I think he was rather successful so far,
so he might just have protection from editors now and needs money.

I was reading the last few Terry Pratchett books, and it really showed
that he had issues with his Alzheimers. Some of his bad writing quirks
just got worse the longer it went on. Although in that case his last
two novels all of a sudden pulled together and the last one was quite
amazing. Although it felt very much like he was sending off the
Discworld.
