Hi Peter  - indeed yes 2013 not 2020! It was late. I try not to make these mistakes but they keep happening!

Yes, very similar structures in the images. Maybe a faint tail to the upper right in your images too.

Kind regards

Nick

Hi Nick,

Did you mean comet C/2013TL117 ? Your image looks similar to one I got on the 22nd Nov. See http://www.astromania.co.uk/2013TL117_20201122_0109_PCarson.jpg

It appears there is still a well condensed object followed by a more diffuse body. The SNR wasn’t good enough for me to do the astrometry.

All the best

Peter

Hi all,

According to Denis Buczynski this has recently split though thats all i know.

Image is 2 hours of 10sec subs under moonlit hazy skies. 16" @f2.9, ASI1600MM, baader 610 filter, binned to 1.36"/pixel. Stacked in DSS but using comet coordinates from ASTAP.

According to some transformations to R based on UCAC4 V and (B-V) colours of field stars, and assuming solar colours for the nuclei, and assuming I'm effectively measuring mR (actually a bit longer) I get mV = 19.0 and 19.6 for the main nucleus and the one below respectively.

29/11/20, 0034 to 0500UT (minus cloud and computer crash).

Apologies for the text being weird but Im tired and I cant figure it out. I can image mag 20 comets but i cant change text colour. Getting old.

Cheers all

Nick
