Comet Section meeting - 2023 July 8 Nick James 29 Mar 2023 06:33 UTC

Good morning,

This year's Comet Section meeting will be held at the National Maritime
Museum, Greenwich on Saturday July 8th. Many thanks to the Flamsteed
Astronomy Society for helping to arrange this.

I have just updated the meeting announcement with a preliminary speakers
list and schedule:

https://britastro.org/event/comet-section-meeting-3

There is a really good line up of speakers who will be covering a wide
range of subjects. I'm very pleased to announce that Prof. Alan
Fitzsimmons will be our keynote speaker on the hot topic of exocomets.

As part of the meeting we will have a comets and meteors themed
planetarium show in the morning up the hill from the NMM at the Royal
Observatory. This means an early start so there is the option of joining
the meeting at three points:

09:30 at the NMM lecture theatre for welcomes and a summary of comet news.

10:15 at the planetarium.

11:15 at the lecture theatre when the main talks will start.

We expect to be finished by 17:30 and out of the LT by 18:00.

The meeting is open to everyone, whether or not you are a BAA member. In
order to manage capacity we will probably ask you to register but I will
circulate more details when we have things set up.

I hope to see you there and I am expecting a lovely, sunny day to enjoy
the delights of Greenwich Park!

Nick.
