I know these observations are useless but I observed 12P visually with the 55cm under very poor skies last night. It was surprisingly easy to see and showed an elongated form. The high cloud made seeing any other details useless and the skies got worse so did not go back to it.

Here is an animation showing the first five nights after the outburst early on October 5. This is 4.3 arcmin square corresponding to a linear dimension of around 570,000 km at the comet. There is an inner bright coma about half the diameter of the outer, fainter coma.
