San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex has an amazing opportunity available for students interested in urban community engagement! Please spread the word to students and colleagues in your network.

Position: Visitor Services/Urban Outreach Intern

Duration: 24 weeks – starting January 2020 through July 2020

Location: San Diego National Wildlife Refuge, Chula Vista, CA

Description:

San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex will be hiring one Hispanic Access Foundation Intern to work with the Visitor Services staff to support the efforts of the SoCal Urban Wildlife Refuge Program. The intern will focus on developing and delivering education and interpretive programming both on and offsite in south bay San Diego communities.  The intern will attend community meetings and other events as needed, and will help in refuge outreach efforts in support with partners. Other duties may include wildlife habitat enhancement collaboration. The intern will focus on:

  • Collaborating with partner organizations, such as Living Coast Discovery Center, on a variety of educational and interpretation programs. 
  • Organizing and delivering a Latino Conservation Week Event with new local partner 
  • Developing outreach materials and supporting social media
  • Assist with planning, design, and implementation of community engagement activities
  • Attending public events and meetings as an ambassador
