Job Announcement:  

 

The Lands Program within the Wildlife Branch is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join a dedicated team of scientists in the conservation and management of Department of Fish and Wildlife lands. The Land Management Planner assesses biological and environmental resources and develops management plans for Department lands, including wildlife areas and ecological reserves.  Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor) for Land Management and Resource Assessment Programs, the Environmental Scientist assists regional and headquarters staff in gathering and analyzing biological resource information to support the development of land management and operational plans, and maintains and updates information systems for tracking biological data and information on Department lands.  The Environmental Scientist assists headquarters and regional staff to prepare, update and distribute for review, plans, contracts, land use agreements and related documents for management of Department lands.  The Environmental Scientist also assists regional and headquarters staff with assessment of management and public use needs and costs, and assists with development of materials and infrastructure to support public use programs that include hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing.  It is located in our office in West Sacramento and is a mostly office-based job.
