Temporary Conservation Technician II~ Restoration

Trinity County Resource Conservation District is accepting applications for the position of Restoration

Technician II in the Vegetation Management Department. The Restoration Technician II works under the

direct supervision of the Vegetation Management Coordinator. This position requires a person who can

work effectively in a collaborative environment and who is self-directed.

Required Qualifications:

1. Ability to perform physical labor in rugged terrain and in inclement weather, particularly heat

2. Ability to identify invasive plant species

3. Ability to work independently or as a team to complete tasks, sometimes with minimal direct

supervision

4. Ability to work safely

5. Ability to communicate effectively and problem solve

6. Flexibility to assist with a variety of tasks to support program needs

7. Ability to lift 50 lbs

8. Possession of a valid California Drivers license

Desired Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:

1. Plant identification skills and familiarity with the local flora

2. Experience collecting data with a GPS unit

3. Experience with plant propagation and nursery work

Duties:

The Restoration Technician II will perform invasive species removal and assist with other tasks related to

restoration, including assisting with the native plant nursery. Work will consist primarily (~75%), of

mapping and manual removal of invasive plant species locally and in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

Some overnight travel may be required. Additional tasks (~25%), include plant propagation and

maintenance at the nursery and maintenance (weeding and watering) of restoration sites.

Dress Requirements:

Technicians are required to wear Vibram-sole type work boots while on the job.
