MISC INVASIVE ANT COORDINATOR – ID# 15278. Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), Maui Invasive Species Committee (MISC), located on Maui, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

DUTIES: Coordinates and oversees invasive ant response activities in Maui County. Implements survey, eradication, and mitigation plans for invasive ants. Allocates appropriate resources and monitors outcomes. Serves as the primary Maui County liaison with the Hawaii Ant Lab (HAL). Collaborates with state and federal officials as well as those from related agencies to promote invasive ant issues within Hawaii. Coordinates, conducts, and leads field survey and control efforts for invasive ants. Keeps accurate and detailed records of survey, treatment, and control work. Prepares maps and regular updates for partner agencies and the public. Conducts outreach, education, and training programs for a wide variety of audiences on management of invasive ants, pest detection, and mitigation. Negotiates with landowners to obtain and maintain permission for field operations and constructively resolves conflicts that might occur. Supervises Ant Detection Dog Team and sets survey priorities for the team.
