Assistant Project Coordinator, Trails and Restoration
·
Work with Restoration Specialist and National Parks Service biologist on setting restoration goals based on current site needs and annual work plans.
·
Implement restoration work goals (planting, invasive species removal, monitoring, maintenance) on the Coastal Bluffs.
·
Hire, manage and serve as liaison to contractors and restoration technicians that support restoration work. Communicate restoration work goals to restoration
technicians, contractors, volunteers, and interns. Assess and quality check work performed.
·
Conduct field-based data collection on all work performed using paper forms, Global Positioning System (GPS) units, and mobile devices where provided.
Enter work performed reports and digitize maps into GIS, as needed.

Create maps as needed using Arc GIS software.
·
Contribute to annual reporting and grant proposals as needed.
·
Participate in trail restoration activities once a week including, but not limited to removing overgrown vegetation, repairing trail tread, and reducing
erosion by installing structures on trails. Volunteer Program Management Support

Assist with volunteer programs for individuals and groups.
·
Maintain good communication and positive working relations with NPS park staff, park partners, and Parks Conservancy employees. Develop a cooperative
working relationship with other internal and external volunteer programs.

Demonstrate and supervise proper and safe tool handling techniques with interns, youth, academic interns, and program volunteers. Outreach and Resource Education
·
Develop and lead educational walks and talks about trails and related natural and cultural history.
·
Develop and seek opportunities for educational trainings for volunteers, interns, and staff regarding trail and restoration principles.
·
Engage park visitors on site, communicate about park issues in an open and positive manner, and educate the public about volunteer and educational
opportunities.
·
Support regular communications with volunteers and the public including a monthly e-newsletter, social media, and program webpages. Administration
·
Assist with herbicide kits, tools, and tool-room maintenance.
·
Attend relevant meetings as directed by supervisor.
·
Assist with responsibility for company trucks, ensuring that they receive proper maintenance and contain needed documents.
·
Experience with trail and habitat restoration activities
·
Qualified Applicator’s Certificate a plus; desire to obtain a certificate a must
·
Good plant identification skills required
·
Knowledge of San Francisco Bay Area ecology a plus and field experience working in its natural areas
·
Interest in developing and delivering resource education materials that convey natural history and cultural resource values
·
Experience in volunteer management, enthusiasm for sustaining a community-based stewardship program, and a desire to engage a diverse population
·
Desire to work in a team setting and to work with a broad range of people with different backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, ages, and
viewpoints
·
Excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills
·
Enjoy working outdoors in all kinds of weather and site conditions
·
Flexible, resourceful and self-motivated; Ability to work independently in the field
·
Proficiency in writing and basic computer skills; knowledge and familiarity with using ArcMap, MS Office, Adobe Suite, and Google applications preferred
·
Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese a plus
·
Valid Driver’s License required
·
Ability to work in environments where exposure to poison oak and ticks is probable
·
Ability to lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds
