In this presentation we give an overview of the state-and-transition simulation model (STSM) approach to forecasting landscape change, as it is implemented in the software framework ST-Sim. An STSM is a general and flexible approach that can be applied across a broad range of ecosystems and land management questions. Because the method is inherently stochastic, it is well suited for characterizing uncertainty in model projections.Read more.

October 6, 10 AM PST
The U.S. National Park Service has begun to integrate climate change science into resource management. Published field research from national parks has contributed to the detection of historical physical and ecological changes and attribution of the cause of those changes to human climate change. Patrick Gonzalez, Ph.D., will present on climate change trends, impacts, vulnerabilities, and carbon in U.S. National Parks. Read more.
