Habitat Restoration/Forestry Technician

Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of the safe usage of power tools
Knowledge of CA Native and Invasive Plants and/or desire to learn
Trail Maintenance experience and/or ability to learn
Job Description: This position requires a hard-working individual who is self-motivated and able to listen to instructions and work as part of a team. Work will occur outside in all weather conditions in natural areas including open spaces, canyons and storm drain channels.
Job Duties: Perform vegetation management by hand pulling or safely operating hand tools, weed whackers, and chain saws to cut various brush and vegetation including branches and small trees. Transport cut debris to dumpster or utilize chipper to reduce biomass. Trash and debris pickup. Install temporary fencing and signs. Install, water and maintain native plants and broadcast seed in support of habitat restoration. Perform trail maintenance and conduct erosion control. Perform Natural Resource monitoring. Other tasks as needed.
Knowledge in these areas is preferred, but we are willing to train the right hard-working individual.
Compensation: $14-15 per hour
Hours: This is a part-time position. Hours can vary weekly. Workday starts at 5AM or 6AM in Spring Valley, CA.
Great Part-time job for college students who have at least 1-3 full week days off a week or take evening courses and are focusing or have interest in Environmental Science, Geography, Horticulture, Landscape Maintenance, Ecology, Biology, Fire Science, Forestry or Parks & Recreation.
