The last of MDOC's MapRun Summer Series will be at Dove Stone Reservoir near Greenfield. Maps and courses will be available on the Navvies site from this Saturday 12th September .

Location: Bank Lane, Dove Stone Reservoir, Greenfield OL3 7NE
Parking: Public car park £1 for two hours. Please note that it is best to arrive early, especially at the weekend, because Dove Stone is very popular and the Pay and Display Car Park fills up quickly. Fairclough’s has been serving ice cream there for 50 years!
Terrain: Dove Stone comprises three reservoirs situated in a steep, ruggedly beautiful and popular moorland valley just the other side of Greenfield.
Courses: Three ‘Scatter’ courses with a total of 38 controls to choose from: Dash - visit 12 controls (c.3km), Diverse – visit 20 controls (c.5km) and Daunting – 30 controls (c.7km)

A grand finale: We promised variety and we have done so. A linear Urban event on a standard map at Stockport; a Postbox challenge on a OOMAP in Glossop; Park/Urban linear courses on a hybrid map at Wythenshawe and now three Scatter courses on a traditional map on traditional moorland terrain. All the courses are still available, but only until 30th September. Summer time is coming to a close!
N.B. Garmin and MapRunG: Those of you with a suitable Garmin watch can try MapRunG. It allows you to leave your smartphone behind and run the course on your watch. No arm band, no rain worries, faster times. It’s free. All you have to do is:
• Check with the GarminIQ store that your watch can support MapRunG
• Download MapRunG to your watch via your smartphone and Garmin Connect
• Download your course to MapRunF on your smartphone as per usual
• Do not ‘Go to Start’ but ‘Send event to Garmin Watch’
• Leave your smartphone in the car, fire up MapRunG on your watch and run.
• Sync on your return
