Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks experienced Librarian/Catalogers for contract position with prestigious government agency. Minimum three years of experience creating online metadata, using WorldCat bibliographic and authority databases, Connexion software, creating Internet links in bibliographic records and using an integrated library system. Work location Silver Spring, MD. Start date July pending contract award. Excellent career opportunity with competitive salary and benefits. Position subject to award.

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

Creating online metadata for the Library of Congress Program for Cooperative Cataloging Name Authority Cooperative Program (NACO) and the Serials Authority Cooperative Program (SACO).
Creating and upgrading bibliographic records under the OCLC Enhance Program.
Assigning and creating online locally-defined index terms for Client programs.
Creating, inputting, and editing online metadata records for inclusion in Client library’s automated catalog and circulation system at an advanced and independent level.
Correct application of standards, guidelines, and local practices, such as the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules 2 (AACR2), and MARC21, and related online standards.
Reclassification of disparate library collections into a unified catalog.
Conversion of non-automated records into machine-readable (MARC21) records.
Data input, conversion, and clean up of database records.
Implements database and bibliographic maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

MLS from an accredited institution
Minimum three years of experience creating online metadata, using WorldCat bibliographic and authority databases, Connexion software, creating Internet links in bibliographic records and using an integrated library system.
Must be a US citizen and be able to pass NAIC background check.
