Thanks. The statement is directly from Serials Solutions. They may not use OCLC records because they are not OCLC members, which is true for all for-profit outsourced cataloging vendors. I’m sure I could finagle
some agreement between my library, OCLC, and Serials Solutions that allows them to use OCLC records, but it’s not really worth it to me.
A few of you have indicated that all I need to do is get a CONSER library to authenticate the record for me. Thanks for that information. I’ll pursue that.

I don’t think this statement is true:
Serials Solutions may only use CONSER records, not OCLC records.
SS will use whatever records your library tells them to use, even the short temporary records they create themselves in the absence of anything else, so this is just a matter of adjusting your
MARC records profile with them – the one that was filled out when the original contract was signed.

I would appreciate any advice on this.
We are not and do not want to be a CONSER library. There’s simply no way to meet the requirements for membership. We are a Serials Solutions library and get their MARC records. We do catalog some electronic journals in OCLC, typically ones
that are more obscure or simply smaller. It would be nice to get those records we create as part of our MARC records, but Serials Solutions may only use CONSER records, not OCLC records.
How does one get a catalog record for a journal added to CONSER’s database?
