PTPL SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT 2011
 
Potomac Technical Processing Librarians (PTPL) announces the availability of two $1,000 scholarships for future librarians interested in technical services.  Students living or working in the PTPL membership region (DC, Maryland, Virginia) and who are currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited Library and/or Information Science program, including distance education programs, are invited to apply.

Criteria Requirements for the Award:

1.    The applicant must be a full or part-time student in a Library and/or Information Science program at the Master’s level and have completed at least one three-hour credit course.
2.    The applicant must demonstrate an interest in library technical services through employment, course of study, or research interests. Technical services is work "…dedicated to acquisition, identification, cataloging, classification, and preservation of all kinds of library materials." To apply, please submit the following materials and note that all submissions must be in MS Word to Suzanne Picken at picken@wrlc.org:

1.    PTPL scholarship application and two written references (The application form can be found at: http://www.potomactechlibrarians.org/scholarship ) 
2.    A current resume 
3.    A one-page, double spaced statement of the applicant’s interest in library technical services

DEADLINE TO APPLY:  May 27, 2011

The scholarships will be awarded by August 26, 2011, and publicly announced at the annual PTPL meeting in the fall.  The recipients will receive a free one-year membership in PTPL and have registration fees for the annual conference waived.
