Description: 

This workshop provides practical information on the descriptive cataloging of digital media. The following digital media types will be covered: DVD-Video, Blu-Ray Discs, DVD-Audio, DualDisc, DVD-ROM, Playaways, and Streaming Media. This workshop highlights the most recent cataloging guides published by OLAC (Online Audiovisual Catalogers, Inc.) (DVDs, Playaways, and Streaming Media). The presentation will include an overview of RDA which has been proposed to take the place of AACR2 as our cataloging standard. Some of the basic changes that RDA may bring to the future of cataloging digital media will be discussed.

 

(This workshop builds on an ALA ALCTS/OLAC preconference entitled: Cataloging Digital Media Back to the Future, June 2009. The same speakers are reuniting for this workshop.)
