LAC Group seeks a qualified information professional for a full time position as a Technical Services Manager for our client, a prominent global law firm with multiple offices.  This position will be located in one of the firm's East Coast offices.

 

Responsibilities

•Plans, organizes and directs acquisitions, serials, and cataloging, and collection development;

•Supervise professional and paraprofessional staff who conduct catalog maintenance,  acquisition, serials and circulation activities;

•Develop technical services policies and inter-library loan program;

•Interact with management team including managing technical services team;

•Maintain the library collection and creates policies to manage collection;

•Train librarians to work effectively with local ILS ;

•Evaluates existing collection for cost saving measures;

•Supervise the library’s firm, standing and subscription orders including licenses;

•Reports and assists in library budget requests;

•Develops cataloging policies and revise existing local practices;

•Participates in development of new technologies and instructs on use of new technologies

•Participates in special projects directed by library management

 

Qualifications

•MLIS from an accredited institution;

•Minimum 5 years of professional law library experience with at least 3 years in management;

•Working knowledge of acquisition processes and tools, electronic information research;

•Working knowledge of professional law librarianship concepts, principles and practices;

•Consensus builder and ability to work with a diverse team of professional and paraprofessional librarians;

•Flexibility that is required in a dynamic and fast pace environment;

•Ability to work coherently with other library staff and as part of management team;

•Familiarity with EOS or similar library software, desired;

•Familiarity with web development tools and scripts, desired
