Earlier this year, NISO published a significant contribution to this community conversation with its trends and strategy white paper, "The Future of Library Resource Discovery," authored by noted independent consultant, speaker, and author Marshall Breeding. The paper is available for free download at http://www.niso.org/publications/white_papers/discovery/. This discussion session will feature Marshall speaking about the paper and provide opportunities for attendees to share their own experiences and perspectives, to help guide the NISO Discovery to Delivery Topic Committee determine which new NISO projects will supply the most positive and long-lasting outcomes for the library community.

Building A Consensus Framework for Patron Privacy in Library and Information Systems - Sunday, June 28, 2015 - 10:30-11:30 am in Moscone Convention Center 3012 (W) [ALA Scheduler link: http://alaac15.ala.org/node/30107]

In the spring, NISO announced the launch of a project to develop a consensus framework for privacy of patron data in library, publisher and vendor systems (http://www.niso.org/topics/tl/patron_privacy/). NISO is gathering input from stakeholders and leaders within the information systems community to craft a set of principles for how suppliers of end-user systems for content or services should address concerns around privacy. This session will describe the project, the four component discussion themes and NISO’s plans for the resulting framework, and will  provide opportunities for the community to provide comment and input.

And don’t forget the NISO/BISG 9th Annual Forum: The Changing Standards Landscape: Access or Ownership: Evolving Business Models and Your Institution, to be held Friday, June 26 from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. in Moscone Convention Center 3012 (W). This year's event will cover evolving business model processes, including book subscriptions, demand-driven acquisitions, new models for providing course content, open access, and more.
