Hello,

I am planning to bind Life magazine even though we are missing some issues.  We have not done this before.  Is there a standard practice patrons expect for indicating on the spine which issues are missing?  Or do many libraries not do that?

On the list-serv, I've seen people write on the spine:

IMP for imperfect
Inc. for incomplete

OR list except with the missing volumes

v. 25
(except no. 1, 4-5, 12)

1975
(except. Feb., June, Dec.)

Some libraries on the list-serv put a colored piece of paper where the missing issue should be, indicating it is missing.  They may or may not also indicate what is missing on the spine.

Thank you,
