ALCTS webinar: Securing Patron Privacy

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.

 

Description: Article III of the ALA Code of Ethics reads "We protect each library user's right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired or transmitted." But do we, when those materials are online? Can we? How?


Learning outcomes:


Who should attend?  E-resource managers. Library administrators. Library web managers.


Presenter:

Dorothea Salo is a Faculty Associate in the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where she teaches about scholarly communication and publishing, metadata, and library/archives technology. She has written and presented internationally on patron privacy, copyright, institutional repositories, linked data, and data curation. She holds an MA in Library and Information Studies and another in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
