I’m pleased to share the news that, thanks to a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, JSTOR will expand its Open Access ebooks initiative to include more than600 titles published by El Colegio de México. In this project, we will digitize important out-of-print works in the humanities and social sciences and make them freely available to researchers around the world. The titles will be available later this year alongside the 2,900+ Open Access ebooks already accessible on JSTOR.

We are grateful to the Mellon Foundation for its support, El Colegio de México for its collaboration, and many advisors for their input.  I’d especially like to thank William B. Taylor of University of California, Berkeley; Herbert S. Klein of Columbia University; Jocelyn Olcott of Duke University; Gilbert Joseph of Yale University; Brian Connaughton of Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana; and Robert Darnton of Harvard University for their valuable advice and support.
