New: Online journal discovery and delivery: Working with libraries and industry intermediaries to maximize readership.

Bringing ALPSP face-to-face workshops to New York and Washington DC.

So, you've built a platform for your journals, it looks fantastic and has all the features a researcher could want or need. But will anyone ever see it?

Our ever-popular workshop 'Online journal discovery and delivery: Working with libraries and industry intermediaries to maximize readership' is travelling across the pond, safe in the hands of our experienced trainers Simon Inger and Tracy Gardner from Renew Publishing Consultants. This workshop offers practical insight and advice on how to improve the user journey and improve discoverability for your journal content.

“This was probably the most comprehensive, educational and interesting course I have attended. Perfectly suited to my requirements”

Jonathan Collard, British Editorial Society of Bone and Joint Surgery

What will you learn?
The course will explore and answer the commonly asked questions about discovery and delivery of academic content:

  • Why do some authentication methods not work in some countries?
  • Why do people use Sci-Hub when they work in well-funded institutions?
  • Why do librarians spend so much money on infrastructure?
  • Why are the usage statistics for my hybrid OA content not higher than my subscription content?
  • Doesn’t everyone just use Google?
  • What do I need to do to maximize discovery?
  • How do I reach my readers if they are hidden within their institution?

Who should attend?
Sales, marketing and customer service staff of all levels, management, editorial, legal, and technical staff needing to understand how the publisher fits into the researcher workflow. This course offers significant insight into the user journey from discovery to delivery, for subscribed and open access content, which needs to be widely understood by all departments within the publishing business.

Workshop format?

  • Full day, small interactive group workshop
  • Exercises and break out groups so that knowledge is reinforced
  • Time built into the program for networking with delegates and trainers
  • Comprehensive delegate packs
  • Pre-workshop reading
  • Pre-workshop questionnaire so that the program can be further tailored to delegate requirements
