Hi Marianne,

We recently weeded our microfiche and film.  We ended up contracting with AMS Store and Shred in Illinois to dispose of the film.  We arranged for them to pick up several boxes.  Their pricing is based on the type of film you have with credit given for film with usable silver.  We also gave some of the fiche to the art department – they thought they might be able to use it creatively.

Hope this helps,

LeAnne

Has anyone recently weeded microfilm? Did you have success recycling, donating, or other?

I found a  useful guide from ALCTS, would but love feedback from others who have recently gone through this process themselves. What was easy, or at least not painful? Any restrictions or issues you ran into working with your campus facilities department when donating, discarding, recycling?
