Primary Purpose/General Description: Acquire, catalog and manage electronic resources available through the Internet as separate titles or as aggregations. Collaborate with librarians, other Bibliographic Access Services staff, and Information Technology staff to maintain accurate data about these resources in the online catalog and accessibility to the Libraries clients. Description of Duties and Responsibilities: Creates and enhances catalog records for remote and direct-access electronic resources and serials in all formats according to professional library standards and library operating procedures. Orders and pays for electronic resources. Monitors currency of internet resources, records of the library holdings, network links and performs ongoing record maintenance as needed. Participates in library policy development and decision-making for this material. Keeps current with national trends in electronic resources cataloging and metadata standards. Communicates with bibliographers and Information Technology staff regarding access to electronic materials. Communicates with staff at other Claremont colleges regarding the campus network as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Two years of college. Four or more years of prior relevant work experience; previous experience in serials acquisitions and/or cataloging, using LC classification, LCSH, AACR2, OCLC, and USMARC formats, the CONSER cataloging manual and editing guide. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work. Experience with integrated online systems, including online bibliographic and authority control. Demonstrated ability to excel as a team member in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Evidence of flexibility and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and complete tasks in a timely manner. Demonstrated ability to work well in a changing environment. Evidence of excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. Desirable: B.A. degree in liberal arts. Knowledge of online database searching and basic computer skills including word processing. Previous experience with Innovative Interfaces, Inc. online catalogs. Minimum salary: $2,439/month. Beginning salary dependent on background and qualifications.
