The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is a member institution of the University of North Carolina, and is nationally recognized for its marine sciences teaching and research programs, and for its strengths in arts and sciences, business, education, and nursing. The University is situated on a beautiful arboretum campus located in an historic port city within five miles of the Atlantic Ocean. The University currently enrolls nearly 10,000 students. CATALOG/REFERENCE LIBRARIAN: (Pos #6561) Randall Library is seeking a catalog librarian with the ability to catalog in all formats, with an emphasis on non-book formats. This individual also assists in maintaining and improving the INNOPAC catalog as part of a unit that processes approximately 18,000 volumes a year. Also assists in staffing the Reference Desk four to six (4-6) hours per week, including weekend rotation. The position is in the Technical Services Unit and reports to the Associate University Librarian for Technical & Collection Services. REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited Master's degree in Library & Information Science, including course work in cataloging. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially with a total library staff of forty-three (43) to develop and provide outstanding library services. Strong analytical and organizational skills required to work in a highly automated, rapidly changing environment. Required thorough knowledge of standard cataloging tools, including AACR2, LC Subject Headings and Classification, and USMARC, and a commitment to adhering to national cataloging rules and standards. Prefer non-book cataloging experience using an integrated library system and OCLC. Ability to serve at the reference desk and assist patrons in an academic library setting required. SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary $30,000 or commensurate with labor market. Twelve month contract with faculty status (non-tenure track.) Generous benefits package.
