We do have subscriptions to more than one copy of the same title coming to the same address, and frequently our order for 2 copies for one year turns into 1 copy for 2 years. It's a never-ending battle, and I haven't come up with a good solution yet. Anyone else have one? When we had multiple copies coming to the main library, the publisher would renew and we'd get the same results as you do. Now with them going just to a branch, we end up with many duplicates. Your primary vendor (in my case Ebsco) sends the orders to the publishers with the same standard name and addresses, but when the orders are processed at the publisher, they abbreviate names. In our case our order may be for Cumberland County Public Library, Serials Section, address, etc., but the publisher keys it as Serials Section, name of library, etc. or even Cumberland Cty Pub Lib and that causes them to to now have 2 orders instead of a renewal, which they start right away. I've been doing this for almost 9 years and the only way to fix it is copy the labels and send them to Ebsco. That speeds up the process of your claim because they (they) publisher can find your order quickly. I also send these directly to my customer representative rather than claiming online. __________________________________________________________________________ | Sharon Tilley | | Library Associate II | | | | Mail: Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center | | Technical Services | | 300 Maiden Lane | | Fayetteville, North Carolina 28301-5000 | | | | E-MAIL: stilley@cumberland.lib.nc.us | | | | Phone: (910) 483-0543 ext 130 | | Fax: (910) 483-8644 | --------------------------------------------------------------------------
