Partnerships in the Electronic Age
----------------------------------

A free MCB and Library Link Lunch, Workshop and Discussion Group for ALA
Midwinter attendees - Friday 12th January 2001, 12.00 - 14.30, at the
Wyndham Hotel, Washington DC, USA.

(As a precursor to the Workshop, an online discussion will take place at the
Library Link site. The discussion is open to all.)

"Partnerships in the Electronic Age" will provide a forum for the exchange
of ideas and information. The format of the workshop will be a light lunch
followed by a brief presentation. There will then be a discussion of the
challenges facing librarians, publishers and vendors - how can they work
together to provide solutions and opportunities in the electronic age?

Key themes will include:

1. 'Pick and mix' or 'All you can eat' - preferred purchasing options for
publisher bundles
2. Reference linking in a networked library environment - is SFX the
solution?
3. Usage Statistics - moving towards the definition of standards for usage
statistics provision
4. Encouraging the use of electronic information resources - ideas for
communicating the benefits to end-users

If you wish to attend the workshop, register your place by e-mailing the
form at the foot of this e-mail to me at liblink@liblink.co.uk.

Please include a first and second preferences of which of the four
discussions you would like to participate in. Places are limited, so please
send your reply as soon as possible. Note: A reply will not ensure a place
at this workshop, please wait until you have been sent a message confirming
your place.
