Hello,

I am the Marketing Manager for Bell & Howell Information and
Learning/ProQuest (formerly UMI), and we are currently working on an
online
collection of "classic" magazines from our Periodical Archive microfilm
collection.  Initially this online resource will consist of the complete
run
of over a dozen historically significant titles such as Harper's
Magazine,
Vanity Fair and the like.
Classic Magazines pulls together historic runs some of the most
influential
magazines in American culture, history and literature, such as Harper's
Monthly Magazine and others selected by librarians. Page image and full
text
will be combined to provide unprecedented access to these magazines,
going
back to their very first issue.

We would like your help to ensure that this product meets your needs and
the
needs of your users as well as to gather feedback on the content and
functionality of this new product. We would like to invite librarians on
this list to participate in a focus group at the ALA Midwinter on
Monday,
January, 15th 2001 from 7:00am to 8:30am. We will provide continental
breakfast and then discuss your impressions of the content that could be
included in this type of product.
Space will be limited to 10 participants.
The Discussion group will go from 7:00am to 8:30am in the ProQuest Suite
(please check the marquee for the exact room number):
