Although JSTOR does work on Macintoshes (G3s or better are
recommended), both
it and most Acrobat-based e-journals do currently work faster on
Windows. (I
have also found that some e-journals anmd databases rely on Javascript
functions that do not work properly on Macintoshes. Fortunately, they
usually
simply give error messages and function anyway, rather than crash)

I consider it good practice to write software for public use in a
library that

works on both Macintoshes and Windows, and with both Internet Explorer
and
Netscape.
