First of all, you must have a bib record and a
check-in record for a serial before you can check-in.
Secondly you must create a check-in pattern thus
generate a check-in card.  Then you may choose to
check in journals as they arrive or group them
alphabetically and then check-in one at a time.   It
seems to me the issue of concern is whether you can
successfully migrate your existing check-in pattern or
do you have to re-create them.
