ELECTRONIC RESOURCES/SERIALS ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN: McConnell Library, Radford University, Radford, Virginia. Responsible for the acquisition of all electronic resources and serials, including handling license agreements, managing vendor contracts, reviewing annual periodical subscription quotations, and arranging trials of new electronic resources. Assist in budget estimate preparation and fund allocations, coordinate purchase order creation and invoice payments for serials and electronic resources. Monitor materials and binding budget expenditures using the Innopac/Millennium system and the University's accounting system. Perform fiscal close activities in Innopac/Millennium. Act as Team Leader and resource person for Technical Services staff positions related to acquisitions, binding, and serials receipt processes. Provide leadership in issues related to electronic resources access and collection development, and participate in the serials review process. Maintain the library's web-based periodicals list, new acquisitions list, and web links to electronic journals from our subscription databases. Maintain a quality control system for relevant Innopac/Millennium data and monitor required statistics, reports, and policies. Develop and present instructional sessions on the use, understanding and evaluation of the library's electronic resources. Participate in overall planning for Technical Services Department and promote active communication and a team-oriented approach to Technical Services. Engage in professional development activities and monitor relevant library trends. As a faculty member, participates in collection development, serving as library liaison to several academic departments. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited program. Professional experience in acquisitions and/or serials work, including budget planning. Familiarity with the publishing industry. Knowledge of electronic resources licensing and the vendor contracting process. Ability to handle the technical aspects of acquiring and maintaining electronic resources. Experience using automated library systems such as Innopac/Millennium, automated budget systems, such as IFAS, and microcomputer applications. Relevant experience developing and presenting instructional materials preferred. Proven ability to work collaboratively and function as a team leader, with effective interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills. High level of initiative. Ability to thrive in a changing work environment. The candidate will be required to give a 20 minute presentation as part of the interview schedule. SALARY: Mid-30's dependent upon qualifications and experience, with comprehensive benefits, several retirement options including TIAA/CREF, 11 paid state holidays, 24 paid vacation days.
