Re: Circulating Periodicals? Sharon Tilley 18 Oct 2001 22:09 UTC

Cumberland County Public Library is located in Fayetteville NC. We
circulate periodicals at all of our branches (6) and only Children's & FLC
(Foreign Language Collection) here at our main location. Newspapers do not
circulate. All of the titles circulate at the branches except the current
issues and bound periodicals. The exceptions are Tabloid-type (Army Times,
etc) and a few Reference titles (Value Line, Facts on File). We order a
circulating and reference copy of Consumer Reports at all locations. They
are 7-day items and there is a limit of 50. The overdue fees are the same
as for books.

Subject: Circulating Periodicals?

Are there any public libraries on this list that are currently
circulating periodicals? If so, is it done at all branches, or selected
branches? What criteria do you use to decide which ones circulate, or
when they are allowed to circulate? How many can be checked out and how
long is the borrowing period?

If you do not circulate periodicals, what are your reasons?

Thanks for any information you can provide,
