The mission of the ISSN Network, which is made up of 75 member countries, is to identify all serial or continuing publications published worldwide,. The International Centre, with a staff of 20 professionals, co-ordinates the Network and manages the international database (the ISSN Register, , with over one million bibliographic records with an annual growth of ca. 50 000 records). In order to fulfill its mission more efficiently, the ISSN International Centre is launching a reengineering process of its bibliographic information system, through an international call for tender. Potential applicants are invited to make proposals for the supply of software, servers and services for the implementation of the new information system. All interested companies are invited to take part in this consultation. The documents of the consultation are available on our Web site, at the following address: http://www.issn.org:8080/English/pub/consultation/ The consultation is governed by a "restricted call for tender" procedure, with two successive phases: - First phase: call to applicants and selection of applicants; - Second phase: call for tender with the applicants selected, who then receive the detailed technical specifications and selection of an offer. The first phase is now declared open. Applications will be sent to the ISSN International Centre to be received on November 26th, 2002 at the latest. Written requests for additional information will be received, by fax, postal mail or by e-mail, at the latest on November 12th, 2002, 12PM. Answers to any questions received will be displayed on the ISSN Web site at the latest on November 15th, 2002.
