ACQUISITIONS/PERIODICALS LIBRARIAN

The University of Texas-Pan American, a growing and vibrant institution
located in South Texas, seeks applications for the position of
Acquisitions/Periodicals Librarian. With growing enrollments and expansion
of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, the library has seen
substantial increases in its materials budget to support the university’s
mission. This is an opportunity to help provide leadership in the
development and implementation of important new programs, including an
approval plan, a preprocessed materials program, and an upcoming systems
migration. The successful candidate will work together with qualified staff
and colleagues and a supportive administration.

PRIMARY DUTIES include supervising the order, receipt, and payment for
library materials in all formats; providing fund accounting and budget
information using the library’s automated system; fostering and maintaining
communication with library departments, campus departments, and vendors;
monitoring expenditure levels in materials accounts; and supervising and
evaluating acquisitions/periodicals support staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS include an MLS from an ALA-accredited program, two
years experience in an automated academic library acquisitions or serials
department, and supervisory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS include experience using the DRA
Acquisitions/Serials system, and a second master’s degree.

Position: Non-tenured administrative staff position. Salary: $37,000 –
$42,900, depending on qualifications, plus standard benefits.
