Hi Jeanette...

I looked at our issues of TIME back to the start of the current volume
and here's what I came up with:

The year end /year-beginning TIME ("PERSONS OF THE YEAR") combined
issue (Dec30 2002-Jan 6 2003) is numbered v 160, no 27

The next issue (Jan 13 2003) is numbered v 161 no 2. There was no v
161, no 1, in other words.

My guess (and it's only a guess) is that they realized they'd lost an
issue and tried to correct it; hence, two v 161 no 9. Number nine...
number nine.... number nine...

Have a good one. -- Max

Time mag had a special Winter issue that was v.161:1 which took the
place of the first issue for January. According to the UPC code
definition of date and issue, March 10 should be issue #10 not #9. My
records show that the rest of the issues that came in are coded
correctly. The issues are as follows: March 17 is coded #11; March 24 is
coded #12; and March 31 is coded #13 so April 7 should be #14.

Hope this helps.

I really feel sorry for all you librarians having to deal with the Faxon
debacle. Serials alone is hard enough to follow without companies
screwing around with libraries financial futures.

Time is one of the titles affected by the divine debacle at our
library, so am relying on sporadically donated issues, - BUT: I have v.
161, no. 5 (Feb 3, 2003) through v. 161, no. 9 (March 3, 2003). Then I
have v. 161, no. 9 (March 10) and v. 161, no. 14 (Apr. 7). When I count
back from 14 to 9, 9 is correct for March 10. However, the earlier
issues are correct also. Has anyone had any feedback on this? Or have
I missed it with all the other stuff going on?
