"Minding the Gap: Generational Issues in Recruitment and the Work Place"

Featuring a keynote address by Lynne Lancaster, co-founder of Bridgeworks and
co-author of "When Generations Collide"

And observations by Jessica Albano (University of Washington) and Mary Chute
(Institute of Museum and Library Services)

Would you like to know more about dealing with generational differences in the
workplace? Is it time to explore new ideas for recruiting and retaining
staff? Could you use some insights into understanding the needs and interests
of a multi-generational clientele? The 2003 ALCTS President's Program in
Toronto will explore these and other generational issues encountered by
libraries. Keynote speaker Lynne Lancaster is the co-founder of Bridgeworks,
"a company dedicated to speaking, writing, and consulting on generational
issues in the workplace and the marketplace." Ms. Lancaster is well
known for her stimulating workshops for diverse organizations such as Charles
Schwab, Hallmark, and the Association for Women in Communications. Her
well-researched, insightful and highly entertaining presentation will examine
what happens when the generations collide at work. Ms. Lancaster is the
author of "When Generations Collide" (2002 and 2003) written with her
business partner, David Stillman.

Librarians Jessica Albano (University of Washington) and Mary Chute (Institute
of Museum and Library Services) will offer additional insights and personal
experiences about working in a multi-generational organization and recruiting
the next generation of library professionals.

Please join ALCTS President Olivia Madison and your ALCTS colleagues to learn
what makes each of us tick - differently.

Through the generosity of Ms. Lancaster's publisher, HarperCollins, all
attendees will receive a copy of "When Generations Collide" (while
supplies last). Ms. Lancaster will be available after the program to
autograph and personalize copies of the book.

This program is supported by a generous contribution from Elsevier.
