Loyola University Chicago Libraries will have a staff position open in
Serials Cataloging after August 15:

Job Title: Coordinator, Serials Cataloging - University Libraries (Band B)

Duties: Performs descriptive original cataloging and complex copy
cataloging for serial publications in print, microform and electronic
formats, investigates and resolves serials record conflicts and access
problems, and serves as a resource person for the ANSI standard for
displays of serials holdings information. As part of the cataloging
process, creates original records or edits selected records from OCLC or
Loyola's online catalog Pegasus in accordance with Anglo-American
Cataloging Rules, verifies search retrieval points for authors, titles,
series and subjects in Voyager and national authority files, provides
holdings information and creates item records. Verifies call numbers
according to Library of Congress classification scheme. Hires,
supervises and trains 1-2 part time student assistants who assist in
serials cataloging and maintenance tasks and serials projects. Assists
the Electronic Resources/Serials Librarian to set priorities and monitor
progress for the Serials Cataloging unit, and to plan and oversee
projects relating to access to serials. Supervises the Serials
Cataloging unit in the absence of the Electronic Resources/Serials
Librarian.

REQUIREMENTS*: B.S./B.A. degree and/or 3 years relevant library
experience, preferably in serials and/or cataloging work; strong
organizational skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills;
ability to work with highly detailed information; experience in
supervising or coordinating the work of others; experience with word
processing, PC and/or library automation applications. Familiarity with
OCLC and Voyager systems preferred. Working knowledge of a foreign
language desirable.
